The Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting is celebrating the 60th Anniversary of their charter by the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops (formerly known as Standing Conference of Orthodox Bishops in America or SCOBA). To commemorate this event, a one-day virtual retreat will be held on Saturday, October 10 and will include presentations from various parishes with Scouting programs, breakout sessions to learn about our North American Eastern Orthodox Saints including Peter the Aleut, John Maximovitch and Nikolaj Velimirovic. There will also be a presentation of Scouting Religious Awards for those who are present. The day will conclude with a Scout and Ambassador Talent Show and then participants will join in prayer at Vespers.

This will be a Zoom gathering beginning at 1:00 p.m. EST, with His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos offering an Opening Prayer and Greeting. This event is designed to encourage young people to continue to learn and grow in our faith and realize that they are part of a larger community of not only Greek Orthodox Christians, but all Orthodox jurisdictions who are in communion with one another, and can also connect through the important ministry of Scouting.
