On Saturday, March 5 a free symposium on “Aesthetics of the Christian Image” will be presented at Stanford University in Jordan Hall at 2:00 p.m.. This event is being sponsored by the Orthodox Christian Fellowship at Stanford, in partnership with the Western American Diocese of the Serbian Orthodox Church under the leadership of His Grace Bishop Maxim.

Three distinguished individuals will be offering presentations on their respective areas of expertise:

  • V. Rev. Archimandrite Dr. John P. Manoussakis, Associate Professor of Philosophy, College of the Holy Cross. “The Vision of the Invisible: A Phenomenology of Icons”
  • Dr. Cornelia Tsakiridou, Professor of Philosophy, LaSalle University. “The Orthodox Icon: Aesthetic Nepsis, Enargeia, and Theophany”
  • Dr. George Kordis, Professor Emeritus of Iconography, University of Athens. “Creating a Christian Image in a (Post)modern World”
