His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos has appointed Philippos Athanasiades to chair the National Ministries Allocation Committee of the Metropolis. Philippos assumed this leadership position as of July 1, 2019, replacing Rev. Father Aris Metrakos, who will remain an active member of the Committee.

“I am grateful to Philippos for accepting this responsibility on behalf of the Metropolis. His professional expertise and his varied experience are an asset to his new responsibilities as chairman of this Committee,” remarked His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco. “The Metropolis also is indebted to Father Aris Metrakos for his efforts which have been vital to the overall successful fulfillment of our Metropolis obligations to the Archdiocese in more recent years.”

In his role as Chairman, Philippos will coordinate the efforts of the Allocation Committee, gathering and reviewing parish data, assigning allocation amounts, and insuring the timely and complete remittance of parish allocations to the Archdiocese. Annually, the Metropolis is assigned an overall amount to be raised by its parishes. Reaching or surpassing this number makes it possible for the Metropolis to meet its obligations for the support of our ministries and operations.
