On Saturday, June 4, 2022, two hundred people from all over the United States gathered at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle, Washington for a Celebration Gala in honor of Archon Cliff Argue and his beloved wife Theo. This honor was richly deserved, as for nearly five decades, Archon Cliff and Theo have selflessly given of their time, talent, and resources, motivated by love for Almighty God and His people.

His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco described Archon Cliff and Theo as “servant leaders with the love of Jesus Christ in their hearts and kindness to all.”

Dr. Anthony J. Limberakis, National Commander of the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, stated: “The spirit of service that has marked the entire lives of Archon Cliff and Theo animates the Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Cliff embodies the ethos of the Order, to defend and promote the Orthodox Christian faith and tradition. Congratulations to Archon Cliff and Theo on this abundantly warranted honor.”

Cliff’s service to our Holy Mother Church of Constantinople and our Orthodox Faith in general has been marked by his forty-five years of commitment to the Standing Committee on Missions of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and the Orthodox Christian Mission Center. OCMC Executive Director Fr. Martin Ritsi spoke at the Gala about Archon Cliff’s faithful service on the OCMC Board of Directors since its inception, including two terms as Board President.

Also at the Gala, Mr. Joseph Sprague, President of Horizon Air, recounted the calmness, grace, dignity, and straightforwardness that exemplified Cliff’s career in the airline industry, making him not only well-respected by his colleagues at Alaska Airlines, but by rival airlines as well.

Through it all, Theo has remained deeply devoted to God, to His Church, and to continuing the Argue family’s faithful service to the Orthodox Christian community.

Clifford Argue was invested as an Archon of the Great Church of Christ and conferred with the offikion Eftaxias on October 10, 2004.
