The faithful from Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Las Vegas, NV witnessed the ordination of Florin Ristache to the Holy Diaconate on Saturday, February 4, 2023 and to the Holy Priesthood on Sunday, February 5, 2023 by His Grace Bishop Ioannis of Phocaea, Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco. Also participating in the service were Rev. Father John Hondros, proistamenos from Saint John Church, and Rev. Father Ioan Dumitrascu, an Air Force Chaplain stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. Also in attendance on Saturday for the Diaconate ordination was Rev. Father Silviu Stanculescu, proistamenos from Saint Andrew the Apostle Church in San Luis Obispo, CA. Father Florin now serves as the Assistant Priest at Saint John the Baptist Church in Las Vegas, NV.

Father Florin received his Master’s (2014) and Ph.D. (2019) degrees in Patristics from the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome, Italy. He earned his Bachelor of Theology degree in Dogmatics from the University of Bucharest in 2010. His father, of blessed memory, served as an Orthodox priest in Bucharest, Romania, and had a great influence on Father Florin’s spiritual development.

Prior to ordination, Father Florin served the parish of Saint John in Las Vegas as Pastoral Assistant, and was active in building up several ministries in the parish, especially those focusing on youth. He previously worked for the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America as the Secretary of the Department of Publications. Father Florin speaks English, Romanian, Greek, Italian and French.

Father Florin is married to Presvytera Alexandra, and they are the parents of a one-year old daughter Daria.
