On Sunday, May 9, 2021, His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco ordained Father Efstratios Magoulias to the Holy Priesthood at his home parish, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Modesto, CA. Also officiating at the Ordination was His Eminence Metropolitan Tarasios of Rhodopolis, who is the Executive Director of the Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute in Berkeley, CA. Rev. Father Jon Magoulias, Proistamenos of the Annunciation Church in Modesto is the father of the newly ordained Father Efstratios who is now the fourth generation of clergy educated and serving in America in the Magoulias family.

Father Efstratios is a 2018 graduate of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, and also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Following graduation, he served as the pastoral assistant at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Sacramento, CA. He will now continue his ministry as the Assistant Priest at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Houston, TX.

Father Efstratios has been active in the church his entire life, participating in Sunday School, as an Altar Boy, Greek Dancing, and for the past 8 years, was a member of the Logistics Team for the annual Metropolis Folk Dance and Choral Festival. In 2013 and 2014, he served on the staff of Ionian Village, helping with the Music and Culture program, and in 2016 he served as the logistics coordinator for the camp.

He is married to Presvytera Danae (Pappas) from Pasadena, CA. She is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University, and continued her studies at University of California Davis, earning a Masters in Education.

Father Efstratios is the son of Rev. Father Jon and Presvytera Georgia Magoulias, and is now the fourth generation of clergy in the Magoulias family to be both educated and serving the Orthodox faithful in America.
