The faithful from Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles witnessed the ordination of their pastoral assistant, Anthony Cornett, to the Holy Diaconate on Saturday, February 13, 2021, and to the Holy Priesthood on Sunday, February 14, 2021. His Grace Bishop Ioannis of Phocaea, Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco, officiated at these services, which also marked his first ordination since his elevation to the Episcopacy. Father Anthony has been assigned as the Assistant Priest at Saint Sophia Cathedral, serving with the Cathedral Dean, Rev. Father John Bakas.

Father Anthony is a 2020 graduate of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School. His spiritual formation into the Orthodox faith was through Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Bakersfield, CA, the city where he was born and raised. While involved at Saint George, he led classes in the faith, assisted in the parish bookstore, taught Sunday School, and participated in home visitations with the parish clergy.

Prior to enrolling at Holy Cross, he had a career in graphic design, and holds an Associate of Arts degree in Graphic Design from Bakersfield College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management with a minor in Graphic Design from DeVry University.

Father Anthony is married to Presvytera Anna, and they are the parents to three daughters: Miriam, Zoe and Despina.
