The faithful from Saint Anthony Greek Orthodox Church in Reno, NV witnessed the ordination of Danilo Simich to the Holy Diaconate by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, on Sunday, January 14, 2024. Also participating in the service were His Grace Bishop Ioannis of Phocaea, Metropolis Chancellor; Rev. Father Stephen Karcher, proistamenos from Saint Anthony; Rev. Father Nicholas Andruchow, Executive Director at Project Mexico and Saint Innocent Orphanage; Rev. Father Zachary Swanson, resident Priest at Project Mexico & Saint Innocent Orphanage; Rev. Archdeacon Justin Bosl from Resurrection Greek Orthodox Church in Castro Valley, CA, and Rev. Deacon James Somerville from Saint Lawrence Orthodox Church in Felton, CA.

Deacon Danilo is a 2022 graduate of Diaconate program at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA. He has lived in Reno for many years and has been involved in the community of Saint Anthony in various capacities, including serving on the Parish Council as Treasurer for three terms, leading the church music ministry, and serving as a tonsured reader. Deacon Danilo studied at San Jose State University in San Jose, CA where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Operations. Deacon Danilo has worked on various domestic and international airport planning and development projects as an airport executive and project manager.

Deacon Danilo is married to Diakonissa Maria del Carmen, and they are the parents of Petar, Gabriela and her husband Stephen, and Andrea and her husband Justin. They are also the proud grandparents Xenia, Lazar, and Marta, who bring them immense joy!
