“[...] ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry [...] and not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’” — Matthew 25:43,45
The 41st Annual Folk Dance and Choral Festival is just over one week away and it will be kicking off with FDF’s first-ever Diakonia Project! Through an exciting collaboration with FDF and the Metropolis Philoptochos, we will be participating in a Hunger Project to benefit the non-profit organization “Feeding Children Everywhere.”
On Thursday, February 16 from 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. on the lower level of the Town and Country Convention Center near registration, all FDF participants, family, clergy, friends and Philoptochos members are invited help package 41,000 meals for children worldwide who are without food. What a wonderful way to celebrate 41 years of FDF and put into action this year’s theme – All For One – while we join hands and hearts and reach beyond ourselves to help others.
Diakonia projects focusing on community service and outreach have been a part of the FDF program at the parish level for many years. This year FDF is taking it to a whole new level with this hands-on way to make a tangible difference in the fight against global hunger. A Hunger Project is more than just an assembly line. It is a high-energy activity that offers a truly dynamic experience positively impacting children throughout the world while bringing personal fulfillment.
