We are pleased to welcome Harry Varthakouris as the featured performer at the Metropolis of San Francisco Gala on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, California. Harry’s musical talents were cultivated from a young age as the son of legendary Greek singer Yiannis Parios. He is also widely known for writing, arranging and producing hit songs for Antonis Remos, Despina Vandi, Sakis Rouvas, and Natassa Theodoridou.
Harry is a successful singer-songwriter whose career got off to an early start at the age of ten as the youngest recipient of a platinum record when he composed and sang the classic hit “Pio kali i monaxia” with his father. Two years later he was included among an all-star line-up of singers and he sang by himself the first chorus of the Greek “We are the world” – “Gia ta paidia” (For the children).
He studied Music Technology at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston and upon his return to Greece started working as a producer. A year later he composed the whole album of Parios’ “Parea me ton Harry” and a songwriter was reborn. That record includes the classic duet “Erotas einai tharro”.
Since 2000 Harry has released three solo albums, including big hits such as “Vradia Aksimerota”, “Adynamia mou”, “Fonaxe pio dinata” and more. He has also produced close to twenty songs for his father, plus music for TV shows, radio stations and commercials.
