It is with great sadness that the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco announces the passing of Dr. Andre C. Dimitriadis on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Dr. Dimitriadis was an Archon of the Order of Saint Andrew the Apostle, and was a devoted supporter of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

Born in Constantinople (Istanbul, Turkey) in 1940, Andre was raised with a deep and abiding faith in the Lord, and with a special love and devotion for the needs of our Ecumenical Patriarchate. Though he came to the United States for graduate school and remained here for the rest of his life, Dr. Dimitriadis never forgot his roots, and always supported the Ecumenical Patriarchate as he personally prospered throughout his noteworthy career.

“Andre was a kind and gentle soul, and we are all saddened by his passing. His untiring support of the Church, and especially the Ecumenical Patriarchate, was offered with sincerity and love, never seeking attention for his good works, but only finding satisfaction that he was ensuring our faith and history for future generations. May God grant eternal rest to his soul,” stated His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco.

Dr. Dimitriadis achieved great success in his professional endeavors, most recently as the Executive Chairman of LTC Properties, a company he founded in 1992. He also previously held the positions of Executive Vice President and CFO for Beverly Enterprises, Executive Vice President and CFO for American Medical International, and CFO of Western Airlines.

He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey; followed by a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Princeton University; and a Master’s Degree in Finance and Ph.D. in Economics from New York University Stern School of Business.

Dr. Dimitriadis was a member of Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Los Angeles and was always eager and willing to support projects to further Orthodoxy and Hellenism. In 2010, he was part of a 30-person delegation which traveled with His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco and His Excellency Archbishop George Niederauer of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco to visit Rome, Athens, and Constantinople. For Dr. Dimitriadis, this was a very emotional homecoming and he was especially proud to share in this historical “Journey of Faith: East and West”, forging a stronger relationship between the Orthodox and Roman Catholic faiths.

May his memory be eternal!
