The Church Music Federation Ministry of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2020 Frank Desby and Xenia Anton Desby Memorial Church Scholarship. This year, the Metropolis Music Ministry offered eight (8) scholarships of up to $500 each for applicants interested in furthering their education to support their involvement in parish music ministry.
This was the largest response of applicants in several years, and the committee carefully reviewed each request, ultimately awarding scholarships to eight (8) applicants between the ages of 12 – 55 years old, with half under the age of 19. These candidates represent a variety of parishes in the Metropolis of San Francisco, including one mission parish. The enthusiasm and dedication of this year’s scholarship recipients is indicative of their commitment to not only improving their personal knowledge, but creating a beautiful and prayerful environment for worship that focuses on the rich hymnology of our faith. The recipients are:

- Thomaida Hudanish – Saint John the Baptist, Beaverton, OR
- Jeff Lee – Saints Constantine and Helen, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA
- Ben Maki – Saint George, Prescott, AZ
- Thomas Swehla – Saint John the Baptist, Beaverton, OR
- Kate Virsik – Holy Cross, Belmont, CA
