2014 01 Young Adult Winter Retreat1

Young adults from throughout the Metropolis, ages 18 – 35, are invited to attend the 8th Annual Young Adult Winter Retreat at Lake Tahoe to be held the weekend of January 17– 20, 2014 (Martin Luther King Weekend). Traditionally hosted by the Metropolis of San Francisco, this year Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in San Francisco will undertake the organization of this event. The retreat will once again be held at the Galilee Retreat and Conference Center in Glenbrook, Nevada.

Father Panagiotis Sotiras from Saint Basil Greek Orthodox Church in Stockton, California will be the guest speaker. Father Panagiotis created the Young Adult Winter Retreat eight years ago and it will be a blessing to have him and his family return this year. Father Panagiotis has many years of experience working with young adults and he is a vibrant priest in our Metropolis. You won’t want to miss his insightful discussions, his sense of humor, or witness him on the slopes, too!

Lake Tahoe is a most beautiful setting for this gathering. The retreat center is located right on Lake Tahoe and has a chapel that overlooks the lake and mountains! Attendees will participate in services, discussions, and fun outdoor winter activities. The Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Sunday morning. On Saturday and Sunday afternoon, participants will have the opportunity to ski or snowboard. For those who don’t want to ski, there will be opportunities to go sledding, ice skating, and sightseeing. The entire group will gather each evening to share the experiences of the day and close in prayer.

The cost is $225 per person and includes three nights lodging and all but two meals from Friday night to Monday morning. Take time out of your busy schedule and share a weekend in fellowship with other Orthodox young adults and enjoy an uplifting retreat in the mountains.
