The most important component for the spiritual growth of our youth and young adults is for them to be active in the life of the Church, and become active members in their local youth or young adult groups. Our Metropolis ministry is intended to offer numerous complementary activities to local parish programs.
Annual Metropolis youth activities include the Metropolis Summer Camp at St. Nicholas Ranch, regional GOYA Lenten Retreats, Our Greek Village Immersion Summer Camp, the St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival and our Greek Orthodox Folk Dance and Choral Festival (FDF). We also encourage participation in the Hellenic College "CrossRoad" summer program, as well as our Archdiocese summer camping experience in Greece at Ionian Village.
The Metropolis offers three young adult retreats each year. The Young Adult Fall and Lenten Retreats take place at Saint Nicholas Ranch & Retreat Center and the Young Adult Winter Retreat enjoys Lake Tahoe over Martin Luther King weekend. Young adults are also given the opportunity to apply to be camp counselors at our Metropolis Summer Camp. We also encourage participation in the regional and parish young adult programs throughout our Metropolis.
