The goal of the Metropolis Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries is to introduce the youth and young adults of our Metropolis to Christ and inspire them to live out their relationship with the Lord and His Church on a daily basis. Through a broad range of programs and initiatives, our efforts are dedicated to spiritually and socially cultivating the next generation.

The most important component for the spiritual growth of our youth and young adults is for them to be active in the life of the Church, and become active members in their local youth or young adult groups.

Annual Metropolis youth activities include the Metropolis Summer Camp at Saint Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center, regional GOYA retreats, and the Saint John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival.

Three young adult retreats are offered each year. The Young Adult Fall and Lenten Retreats, both held at Saint Nicholas Ranch and Retreat Center, and the Young Adult Winter Retreat held at beautiful Lake Tahoe over Martin Luther King weekend.

In addition to the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries, the Metropolis recently expanded the Youth Office to include the position of Parish Youth Ministry Advisor. This full-time position supports parishes throughout the Metropolis in building and growing their youth and young adult ministries and to create more regional youth ministry opportunities.

The Parish Youth Ministry Advisor will meet with clergy and youth workers from through the Metropolis, guiding them in growing their youth ministries to support young people in creating a relationship with Christ and His Church. This will also include the establishment of regional youth retreats, fostering inter-parish collaborations, and provide training and the sharing of best practices to provide for a stronger infrastructure of youth ministry.
