Every parish in the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of San Francisco has some form of Christian Education program. The goal of our Metropolis Christian Education Ministry is to provide continuing opportunities for the training and development of volunteer catechetical staff who teach both children and adults. In addition, we work in concert with the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Department of Religious Education, providing guidance and materials which support the Youth Education (Sunday School) curriculum.

It is also a priority to promote and encourage life-long Adult Education, utilizing a variety of educational methodologies to meet the needs of clergy, faithful and parishes across our Metropolis. These include: Podcasts, Webinars, Live virtual meetings, Book Study Forums, Specialized Resources and Lesson Plans.

Saint John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival

The St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival, established in 1983, is a nationwide Department of Religious Education (DRE) ministry of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America that centers around faith, education, and fellowship. Greek Orthodox youth participants present speeches discussing the faith and the Church through exploring and deepening their faith while honing their speech writing and public speaking skills. National finalists earn sizeable monetary awards, and finalists at all four levels earn scholarships. More information on the Oratorical Festival can be found here.
