All junior and senior high school age young people (grades 6 to 12)
are invited to participate in in the annual Southern California Bible
and Church History Tournament! The Orthodox young people in the
Southland love this tournament, and enjoy learning about the Scriptures
and the Orthodox Church as well as meeting other Orthodox young people
from different parishes and various jurisdictions. The day includes
games, activities, lunch, the presentation of trophies to the winning
teams, and concludes with the Service of the Ninth Hour. This year the
tournament is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from
10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral,
2300 W. 3rd Street, Los Angeles, CA 90057.
Special thanks are
extended to the pastor of St. Nicholas, Father Nabil Hanna, and the
assistant pastor, Father Andrew Andrews, along with the staff and
parishioners at St. Mary’s for their kindness and hospitality in hosting
the Bible Bowl this year. Thanks are also given to Fr. Bill Tragus of
Saint Basil Greek Orthodox Church in San Juan Capistrano and Mr. Dean
Tripodes of Baywalk Marketing for maintaining the Bible Bowl website, which has all the materials needed for this year’s tournament posted online.
