Metropolis Honors Helen Dumas After 25 Years of Service as Director of Greek Education

In honor and celebration of Helen Dumas' 25-year tenure as the chair for the Department of Greek Education and Culture for the Metropolis of San Francisco, a luncheon is being held at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Sunday, December 16 immediately following Divine Liturgy.  This event will mark the retirement of Mrs. Dumas who has served faithfully since first being appointed to this position in 1982 by then +Bishop Anthony of blessed memory.

His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos will be present to recognize the devoted efforts of Mrs. Dumas.  Television and movie star Melina Kanakaredes will also be a special guest at the luncheon. Special performances will be offered by the Hellenic Academy Singers, and the Greek Folk Dancers from St. Sophia Cathedral.

Immediately following the luncheon, all Greek language educators from Southern California are invited to a meeting with Dr. Peter Nanopoulos, the recently appointed Director for the Office of Greek Education and Culture for the Metropolis of San Francisco. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss matters relating to Greek Language Schools in Southern California.
